Nathaniel and I met this man at a fuel stop about a month ago in Prather, CA as we filled up our tires.  He is 92 years old, and even though I could hardly understand him, I couldn’t help but smile and nod. I’m deeply grateful to him and all the others who have served our country…

Longing for the Countryside…

Friday, May 18th, 2012

There’s something about the country that will always be dear to my heart…

A year ago I spent a week in Texas for a few photoshoots.  I cannot help but miss things like sweet tea, open skys, fields of wildflowers, sitting on the porch with friends drinking a Shiner Bock, real rough cowboys, heart melting foals, and most of all…  the feeling that everyone treats you as family.

A big thank you again to the Foust family for their southern hospitality!

I always knew it was You…

Whitney & Lucas’ wedding day was nothing short of magical…  Their wedding film, by Cana Video Productions, still brings tears to my eyes.

See many more photos here and here on OnceWed and Style Unveiled.

“I’m sure most people say this, but I (as well as most of the guests I’ve spoken to) really felt like there was an  air of romance wafting around the Dana Powers house that day. There was no drama, no catastrophes-  only a small collective of people enjoying themselves. We danced, ate, kissed and mostly, loved every moment of it.” – Whitney

An Afternoon in Cambridge…

Saturday, March 10th, 2012

While we were preparing for her sisters London wedding, Kelly Oshiro, her husband Sam, my best friend Anna, and I took an afternoon to frolic around the English countryside.  Kelly and Sam were also celebrating their wedding anniversary!  Countryside, tea and scones, Kings College, Cambridge, and a pint at a local pub made for the most delightful afternoon…

The poet Rupert Brooke often frequented The Orchard Tea Garden in Grantchester, where we had tea and scones.  One of my favorite poems, The Soldier, is about this countryside, and is worth the read.

These photos were also published here on Inspired by This!

My Annabel Lee…

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

As a child, Evie’s favorite poem was Annabel Lee by Edgar Alan Poe…  here is an excerpt…

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
